Copper gas lantern — Alpha Gas Services, Jacksonville FL

A gas lantern changes the look of a front entry, and installing one is mostly a gas-piping job: a small line to each fixture, a shut-off valve, a burner adjusted for the right flame height, and an ignition that stays lit in the wind. We install lanterns you bought or help you choose the right size for the space.

New construction or a remodel? We run the lantern lines while the walls are open so nothing shows later. On existing homes we route the line through the attic or along the exterior with as little visible pipe as possible.

  • Porch, column and wall-mounted gas lanterns
  • Gas chandeliers and tiki torches

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what customers ask us most. Anything else? Call or text and we'll walk you through it.

Does a gas lantern stay lit in the rain and wind?

Yes, when it is installed right. The burner is adjusted for a steady flame and the lantern housing protects it; electronic ignition relights it automatically if it goes out.

How much gas does a lantern use?

Very little — a typical lantern burns around 1,500 to 2,500 BTU, similar to a stove pilot. Most customers leave them on all the time.

Can you add lanterns to a house that is already built?

Yes. We route the line through the attic, a soffit or along the exterior and mount the lantern on the wall or column.

Do you sell the lanterns?

We can help you pick and source the right lantern, or install fixtures you already purchased.
